Project: ROOF FOR THE POOR #2  is now in action...

About the Project
The Roof for the Poor project is the second project undertaken by the Kinh 5 Foundation. This project will seek basic housing for the underprivileged ones living in our village. While our objective is to address common issues such as poverty, hunger, and lack of education and healthcare, we feel that adequate housing is a necessity to help rebuild our community.

Our goal is to raise another $10,000 during this campaign. The money rasied will go into the building and rebuilding of homes tot meet safe and sanitary conditions.  The project will target those people who are unfortunate, mentally challenged, physically disabled, and abandoned residin in Kinh5, Tan Hiep, Kien Giang, Vietnam.

While the majority of the money raised will go toward home building and rebuilding, we will consider the circumstance of every family and allocate funds based on the most important needs.  Some of these needs may extend to providing food, medication, health education, farming/fishing equipment, etc.

To reach our first goal of $10,000, we are asking for support from all our members from Kinh 5, as well as anyone willing to help out our less fortunate brothers and sisters.  It may come as a surprise, but the cost of a mere cupcake can go a long way.  For example, sacrificing a couple bowls of Pho or a trip to Starbucks Coffee may not affect us much, but it can definitely feed a family of four for over a week and possibly save their lives.  We urge you to help out in any way you can so that these less fortunate people can have the same opportunities that were afforded to us.

Background and History
The Kinh 5 Foundation was established on the notion of community enrichment and development through solidarity.   The Foundation aims to unite the people from Kinh 5 Village in Vietnam who have migrated all around the world after the fall of Saigon in 1975.  Although well established wherever they may have migrated to, these people never forget about those who are left behind.  They began networking and informally formed a group in the mid 1990s of what is now the Kinh 5 Foundation.  Their purpose is to lend a helping hand to those left behind who are in dire need of one.  Bearing witness to extreme poverty, hunger, and lack of education and healthcare, they donated food and clothes and helped as much as they could because they knew that their less fortunate brothers were in desperate need of it.
